Rams hurt themselves with five turnovers in 16-10 loss to Seahawks

Are the Rams the Real Deal?

If you asked any football fan how they thought the Los Angeles Rams were going to start their 2017 campaign, they probably wouldn't have answered that they would be top of their division a quarter of the way through the season. The game is especially huge for the Seahawks.

The Rams are just 1-7-1 against the spread in their last nine home games, are 1-9-1 against the number in their last 11 games versus NFC opponents, and are winless at 0-4 at the betting window in their last four games versus NFC West opponents.

That the Seahawks were still in it at that point was thanks in large part to the fact they got an early break - or, more to the point, Thomas earned them an early break.

The Seahawks were shorthanded on the defensive line after Cliff Avril was declared out indefinitely following a neck stinger during a tackle in Sunday's win over Indianapolis. According to media reports from the Seattle area, the Seahawks coaches were a bit surprised Odhiambo returned so quickly, but they are also excited about possibly having him available Sunday against the Rams.

Who: Seattle Seahawks vs.

Jimmy Graham scored late in the first half in a defense-dominated win for the Seahawks (3-2), who shut out the NFL's highest-scoring offense in the second half of their second straight win over their NFC West rivals.

But it's different this time, they swear! The Seahawks have played bad against the run, ranking No. 26 in overall run defense.

Lane, the team's starting right cornerback in base defense and nickel back inside when it goes to five in the secondary, strained his groin in the Colts game.

Seattle arrives with a pair of one-score road losses and a rash of injuries. Rawls routinely worked ahead of Lacy until he injured his ankle, which forced him to miss the final three preseason games and the regular-season opener while Carson grabbed hold of the starting job.

It took all of last season and a couple horrendous games this year to convince head coach Pete Carroll to shake things up a bit.

A somewhat improbable pass from Goff to Tyler Higbee got the Rams to the Seattle 40 and then another to Robert Woods gave the Rams the ball at the 20 with 17 seconds left. "But right now, we don't".

On the first possession of the second half, Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein missed a 36 yard field-goal attempt, his first miss of the season after converting 15 in a row.

Russell Wilson has been running for his life from opposing defenses since last season. The Seahawks acquired the fifth-year offensive tackle in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles back in August.

Lastly, the Carroll-led Seahawks have only ever played against a Jeff Fisher-led Rams. The other most improved stat has been his completion percentage.

The Seahawks (3-2) ran off the sideline to roar at their defense for doing it. Limiting explosive plays from Gurley will go a long ways towards a Seahawks win on Sunday. It simply makes the road more hard. Since this game is in Los Angeles, that pattern is less than ideal this weekend. It is also the reason why the running game has looked lethargic at best.
